ABSTRACT

The authors lay the foundations for a radically different approach to the physical concept of phase states, based on a new treatment of the thermokinetic and electromagnetic heats of a substance and on a fundamental correction to the rms velocities of molecules. The heats of state are shown to ultimately result from distinct electrodynamic interactions that phase-compact molar and molecular volumes, and that replace the semi-empirical van der Waals and descendent equations of state. The authors identify the two classes each of photons and free electrons of state, and demonstrate that "free space" only exist in gas and vapour phases. From first principles (microphysical and geometric), they provide the basic structures of the three phases of water, their molar volumes and the basis for observed volume variations, as well as the real Debye values of the covalent bond moments and the dipole moment of water. Experimentally and analytically, the authors correct the mean free path equations, such that the Ramsauer effect in noble gases acquires a totally different physical sense, one which points to resonant thermo-magnetic interactions between translating electrons and rotating gas molecules.
